What does the Bible tell us about our interaction with satan?

So many time I hear Christians say they are doing battle with Satan, or they are fighting him and that confuses me. Nowhere that I know in the Word of God does it say we are to do battle with satan. The only place I do know satan is referenced is for us to first submit ourselves to God, then STAND against satan and it says after we do those two things then satan will flee. Then James (Jesus brother) says to draw closer to God and He will come closer to you.

So the question is HOW do we STAND against satan? First I believe you you should not listen to him and what he says so you are not tempted. When you have the Word of God hidden in your heart and you are tempted to do or say something against Gods Word you immediately know it is wrong and you TAKE a STAND and say NO! Basically you DO NOT listen to the temptation because you submitted to God’s Word instead of satans word.

I think this is very much like humans, if we are near someone and they consistently do not listen to what we are saying, eventually we will leave and go find someone that will listen to us!

The Word says that Jesus already defeated satan on the Cross and put him under our feet, so why do we think we should do battle with him? It is our duty to not listen to him and STAND on God’s Word. I look it as why would I ever lower myself from the place Jesus seated me in Heavenly Places to come down to satans defeated level. When you do this you will always loose against satan because you are on his territoty. Instead stay seated with the Savior and simply resist the temptation staying subbmitted to God’s Will and Word and you will see life becomes a lot easier.

The next time you are tempted, try walking out what the Word of God says instead of “doing battle”. Simply resist him standing on what God has already said, and simply DO NOT listen to the temptation and satan will flee!

So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. Come close to God and He will come close to you. Jas 4:7-8 AMP
