Diamond – which means unbreakable is created under extreme pressure and intense temperature for long periods of time! A diamond started out as worthless charcoal, but it is what survives the process! All natural diamonds have imperfections, are different, are priceless and sought after, while man made ones look the same and appear perfect, they are created quickly but are actually the cheapest and counterfeits!

There is a lesson to be learned in the process of becoming a diamond, it is the long process of pressure and heat that makes them rare and valuable not that they are perfect. Our human condition strives for perfection while all the mean time God is developing our character.

Character can not be developed quickly, it must come with years submitting to the process. Take a regular hand¬† made chair in the 1800’s which probably had little value, but let that chair survive 200 years and be in the possession of a famous King or Queen and now it can have great value as an antique even though it is old and flawed by time. The same is true in our lives, God takes what to us has seemingly little value and starts the process as we become His possession once we are Born Again. Then over time during the pressure and heat of transforming our image and likeness into His we become valuable to the Kingdom of God. He can take what the world would call a nobody and transform them into a diamond in the Kingdom of God, but there is a process that we must submit to!

Jesus said “take up your cross and follow me” and “anyone who wants to save his life must loose it“, Paul said “crucify your flesh daily“.

Mat 16:24-25 MSG
Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. 25 Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self.

Luke 17:33 MSG
If you grasp and cling to life on your terms, you’ll lose it, but if you let that life go, you’ll get life on God’s terms.

So while we are concerned with the End Goal… God is concerned with the process and your character! So submit to the process God has for you to REALLY enjoy life abundantly, don’t be worried about being flawed and not perfect… your imperfections are where the value is and what makes you unique.

Trust in the Lord and don’t rely on your own understanding, know that He will always lead you in the right direction only if you get out of the drivers seat. He can surely handle your mess. So relax, Trust God, follow Jesus and submit to the process to become a Diamond in His hand!
