I have heard preachers teach on Mark chapter 4 that only 25% (1 out of 4) of the people will receive the Word as it’s taught, but then I thought about a farmer going out to sow seed. Any good farmer is going to sow seed in a field and not on a highway otherwise he won’t be a farmer very long!

Yes, in that field there will be some hard ground and some weeds, but we can not conclude that only 25% of the people will accept the Word of God. It is ours to sow the Word in whatever ground we are around and let the Holy Spirit do the rest not being concerned with percentages or statistics but instead just simply loving the people we are with at the time! When we sow God’s Word we don’t know how or when it will come up and produce a harvest, but I can guarantee you that if you never sow God’s Word… there will never be a harvest!

Jesus tells us exactly what the Kingdom of God is like, it is a sower or farmer sowing His Word! That is what Jesus did everywhere He went, He taught and demonstrated the Kingdom of God with signs and miracles. He uses three parables in Mark chapter 4 about seed; 1.) the 4 different types of ground (vs 3-20), 2.) the farmer again sows seed and goes to sleep and the ground knows what to do and the farmer doesn’t understand how the earth produces the crop (vs 26-29),  3.) the mustard seed which is the smallest of seeds but produces a large tree (vs 30-32).

Jesus said “Give attention to this! Behold, a sower went out to sow (the Word of God). (vs 3,14) Then a few verses later He say “To you has been entrusted the MYSTERY of the kingdom of God that is, the secret counsels of God which are hidden from the ungodly.” (vs 11)

So if you want to understand how the Kingdom of God works it is simple, tell people around you about the Good News of Jesus Christ and not be concerned about what type of soil it is, trust that Holy Spirit will make it grow and minister to their hearts. Then demonstrate the Power that is in you with signs, wonders, and miracles. Every Born Again believer of Jesus Christ has the SAME Holy Spirit inside them that Jesus Himself had. He actually longs to get out and demonstrate His Goodness!

If you have never seen a sign or wonder maybe it is because you never stepped outside your comfort zone and trusted God to produce one! Faith and Trust IN God develops and grows one small step at a time, you just don’t wake up one morning with a truck load of faith delivered at your doorstep. Faith in you grows like a seed “first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear” (vs 28).

Relax, it’s not you that produces the miracle it is 100% God, but He decided to use us as His hands and feet to deliver the Word and miracles to the world. So give it a try, tell someone about the Goodness of God and sow some Word (seed) today… don’t preach at them, just have compassion and talk to them letting the Holy Spirit lead and guide your words. You’ll be utterly amazed what comes out of your mouth and what He will do.

Like the old TV Commercial with used to say “Try it, you’ll like it.”

Peter, we too walked through a extremely trying 3 years. What we saw through it was His faithfulness and learned how to totally “TRUST” in the Lord. I would not have ever learned that or seen that unless I walked through the storm. He spoke to me awhile ago and said “some lessons are taught, and some have to be learned“.
